About Us
A prelude written by the community.
Frelude is a registered non-profit organization in Brazil (Charity ID: W133009997), headquartered in Manaus, Amazonas. We exist to make sure that opportunity reaches the people who are too often the last to receive it.
Our story
Frelude began with a simple observation in the neighborhoods of Manaus: talent was everywhere, but access was not. Young people with sharp minds had never owned a computer. Small business owners ran everything on paper. Community leaders had ideas but no tools to organize, communicate or reach funding.
A small group of educators, technologists and social workers decided to begin — a prelude, a first movement. They opened their first learning circle in Nossa Senhora das Graças, sharing donated laptops and teaching the basics of email, documents and online safety. Demand quickly outgrew the room.
Today Frelude is a formally registered non-profit (Charity ID: W133009997) running structured programs in digital literacy, capacity building, youth support and public outreach. Our name joins two ideas: free and prelude — the belief that every life deserves a free and hopeful opening.

Governance
Frelude is governed by a volunteer board of directors responsible for strategy, financial oversight and ethical conduct. A fiscal council reviews accounts annually, and an executive coordination team manages daily operations. Conflicts of interest are declared and recorded, and all major decisions are minuted.
Leadership commitment
Our leadership commits to transparent reporting, responsible use of every donation, safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults, and full compliance with Brazilian law governing non-profit organizations. We hold ourselves accountable first to the communities we serve.
